Newbury Liberal Democrat MP Candidate Supports Brighter Berkshire at Thinking Together Event Thatcham
On 18th May, Brighter Berkshire and Healthwatch West Berkshire brought together the community to discuss the successes and challenges of mental health in West Berkshire. Click to see more photos.
On Saturday 6th May, a huge group of Brighter Berkshire volunteers headed out to Reading town centre to spread the Brighter Berkshire message. It was an extremely successful day talking to local shoppers and business owners about our cause.
While we played music for mental heath for the second day in a row in Broad Street Mall, both Reading MP Candidates popped in to show their support for the campaign and to speak to those who attended.
As part of our Reading Walk and Talk Event, on Saturday 6th May and Sunday 7th May Brighter Berkshire and Gig Rooms invited local musicians to busk in Broad Street Mall to support local mental health.

In March, Brighter Berkshire (represented by Anne-Marie Gawen) attended the International Women’s Day Conference in Reading, organised by ACRE (Alliance for Cohesion and Racial Equality) and Utulivu Women’s Group.
The conference was a positive bringing together of a lot of knowledge and expertise in many different areas – many of which involve issues unique to women as well as ones which involve both men and women.

A planning event for Brighter Berkshire was held in Newbury Rugby Club on 16th December to understand more what might be possible over the Year of Mental Health and what is the level of ambition for the year. Almost 70 people turned up for the event from across Berkshire with every Council area represented. There are already groups of people coming together in Art, Music, Sport, Education, Literature, and Business putting in place activities and events for the year.
