World Mental Health Day – 10th October

Brighter Berkshire Events on WMHD

World’s Largest Mental Health Lesson at Reading Football Club Stadium

Spectrum are hosting the World’s Largest International Mental Health Lesson on World Mental Health Day.

Spectrum is a Berkshire wide community led group founded by Shamyla and made up of a core team of Reading University students driven to connect the world on World Mental Health Day and raise awareness of common mental health conditions, break stigma and educate students from Year 6 to Year 11 on mental health.

This is increasingly important because of the rise of young people suffering with mental/emotional distress with more students resulting in self-harm type behaviours as a means to cope. We are doing this in partnership with Brighter Berkshire; a community led mental health campaign. Spectrum is being supported by Bracknell Forest Public Health, Reading FC, Senior NHS clinicians and other organisations. This event is open to schools across Berkshire.

The lesson will focus on depression, anxiety, resilience, self-harm, eating disorders, male mental health and suicide. With a focus on; top tips for mental wellbeing, coping strategies to manage stress and adversities, self-help and how to support someone with mental/emotional distress.
